A change of scene

People start practising yoga for many different reasons. Some may initially be drawn to the physical health benefits, whilst others are seeking to embark on a more spiritual journey and discover a sense of peacefulness, perhaps to counter a hectic and stressful lifestyle. The beauty of yoga is that it can be accessed by everyone, and is not just about our physical practice but also the way that we approach life. How many of us have experienced cluttered minds and a sense of internal imbalance, despite having a regular and dedicated yoga practice? The last couple of years have seen most of us spending far more time than usual in the same space and without a huge amount of variety. This can lead to a lack of fulfilment and general sense of inertia. Getting away from our everyday environment and doing something purely for our enjoyment can have a profoundly re-energising effect on shifting our perspective and outlook. Even for those who thrive on routine, a day or two somewhere away from familiar surroundings and exploring somewhere new can be just as nourishing for the soul as a weekend’s yoga retreat, especially if we approach it with an open mind and relaxed attitude. So put away your yoga mat and go somewhere nice for a couple of days. It’ll be waiting for you when you get back.
